just throwing this out there...but no one has mentioned anything about the cags. (computer aided gear selector) that causes the 1 to 4 shift error. when you shift to second in certain RPMs or WOT passed a certain RPM to shift, cags comes in. anyone try and bypass it first before taking it to the dealer?

The OP has a V6, no CAGS/skipshift on those cars, just the V8's.

Rustyhookz I do have a hurst Shifter and honestly it was real easy to put in. As long as you can follow instructions and have some mechanical skills you could do it in 45 min to 90 min.

Could be in my head, but seems like mine is slicker shifting now. I've noticed it since about 5000 miles (now at 6500). It seemed to have loosened up.

At one point I considered a different shifter, but it's shifting better and this thing has really grown on me. Anyone else notice?

At 8500 miles and it shifts perfectly. Still has factory shifter. First 2K or so it was stiff, but not to the point I thought I would miss the shift.

"Shift to 4th override"

How do I override my V8 Manual 2SS from making me shift from 1st to 4th? It bogs down the motor and my friends laugh at me "Don't you know how to drive a manual?" It is so frustrating. Please help

Well, here I was thinking that after a three year hiatis from stick shifting I was telling myself I just don't got it anymore.
This morning I was merging on to the freeway and had to get up pretty quickly. Around 3000 to 3500 rpm's I tried to shift into second and I had a hell of a time getting it in gear. I was so tuff that I almost missed the damn shift. Never done that before.

Mine used to feel a little notchier when shifting to 2nd above 2000 rpm's, but after a few thousand miles all shifting seemed to smooth out.

PB3 i know what your talking about, that is the way mine is feeling. Its like i take off in 1 and i am learing to shift, griding gears missing the gear at optimal time. Its hard to get it in gear at that point i end up grinding the gear, but this only occurs in 2nd gear. All My other gears are great and smooth.

I havent taken my shifter out yet to take it into the shop so i hope to get some time to do that and replace it with the factory shifter.

If i dont then they are going to charge me to look at it.

Same deal with my second gear, sometimes its superhard to get into gear, and sometimes it will go in grinding, only under hard acceleration though, under normal driving it seems fine. Only in 2nd gear though... going into 3rd and 4th no problems under hard acceleration.
