Rust Removal
So I bought a new pre-rusted Camaro and I am perusing having the dealer and GM make it right by either taking the car back or replacing it.
Right now I am trying to get educated on (if GM and the dealer are successful in sticking me with this) how would some one go about cleaning, treating and trying as much as possible to stop the corrosion? Is there an xyz rust stopper-cleaner upper? Link to my thread with pictures: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=358996 Thanks for any replies. |

Wire brush the rust spots the best you can, get yourself some POR-15 45008 Black Rust Preventive Paint in a pint can and brush it on.

Thank you Dark!
That defiantly looks like the right stuff to use. I cannot believe that I might have to do this on a brand new car in Arizona no less. |

Rust? Arizona?
Up until last April, I lived in Surprise, and would go hiking in the mountains outside of Wickenburg. We'd find old mines that had 100 yr old metal parts that were still there, although with a light coating of rust. I'm thinking that the car did not originate in AZ... At any rate, if you keep it there, I don't think I'd worry about the rust getting any worse. In Nebraska, where I'm at now, I'd be plenty worried however!
