Question Tuner around stock computer

Ive got a 2SS RS auto still under warranty. I once heard of a tuning system that installs around the stock computer. The stock computer remains unchanged while the system modifies the signals in and out of the ECM. You just pull it out and reconnect the harnesses when you take it to the dealer. Anyone have any insight on this type of equipment? What are some good places for researching tuning and programming? thanks.

Years ago before 2002 there use to be chips. like you are talking about.
Now most use hand held tuners. Easy to reprogram for shift points and tire size
type of gas.
Also there are PC based programs that let you modify all most any parameter of the motor & transmit ion, HP Tuner / EFI

Hopr this helps.
