Hurst Shifter looks great, i've never had one so what can i expect when i buy one? The shifter from Hurst you say has a 40% reduction Is this the distance between gears? Sorry for all the questions i just don't know much about it so could someone explan this and the PRO's and cons. I Believe i want the hurst shifter that has a 40% reduction it just seams better. What would the part number be for this item?

Had Hurst shifters on many cars (59 Corvette, 63 Corvette, 70 Camaro,64 409, The stock shifter is as good if not better than Hurst unless they have come up with a better solution. I will have to drive a Camaro with one installed before I buy.

No need to drop the trans on THIS "aftermarket" shifter~..The same cannot be said for the O.E. Hurst version!

Feel sorry for the people who were really set on this shifter. Having to wait this long is really disappointing. I am suprised GM didn't replace Hurst with another brand months ago, given that this looks like all of Hurst's delay.
Let's clear up the confusion here> The shifter thats posted in this thread is HURST's Aftermarket version!. This shifter is made for those customers who bought a camaro and decided not to order the O.E> Hurst shifter with the car. They are (2) entirely different shifters!. To be clear: The hold up on the O.E> version of the Hurst shifter was not their doing, it is due largely in part to the situation at GM, plus some running changes that GM and Hurst had mutually agreed upon to "spice" up the design aspect of the shifter..nothing more!.. A decision was made by GM to move the O.E. shifter from the "accessory" division to the "line installed" division so there has been delay in getting that moved over with all the issues currently going on. The Aftermarket version (shown here) can be installed without removing the trans, only loosening the cross member a little to get better access.. The O.E> version has a complete "casting" as requested by GM and it is believed at this point the trans will need to be dropped to install that particular unit..hence the reason it is to be installed "on the line" or "at the dealer level"...so, that's the story

YES! Im sorry, an aftermarket shifter should do at least one of the two following things.... preferably the latter!

1: shorten the throw of the shift
2: provide some way of protecting the shift forks via adjustable shift stops.

Otherwise all you're getting for your money is a shiny shifter lever and white ball with HURST on it.

Waste of money in my book!

its does both!. Shortens the throw considerably over the stock unit AND the tr6060 trans has built in stops in it so there is no need for the shifter to incorporate them

Lots of options for different things on the car, Most dealers just didnt know what was going on during the early order process. Look around this site some, you will be armed with tons of knowledge next time you go to the dealer.

Well, if this is fact, then than God I cancelled it! I WILL be getting the new Hurst shifter. I just hope I can get my hands on one within the next two weeks.

Owie, they will have to drop the tranny for the OE one? I better cancel my order for that, cause that won`t be cheap to install
