The SS and Z28 are already done. There just won't be any future high performance vehicles until GM is financially healthy.

I would be interested in knowing if this decision was based on profitabilty for such vehicles or if was just deemed politically incorrect. For example, has GM analyzed the cost to design and produce these high-performance vehicles vs their ROI?
I say bring back the COPO cars, let specialzed dealers order them and then build specialty versions and even have them titled under a non-gm or chevy name. Similar to what Saleen did for the Mustang. That might allow them to get under the CAFE standards since I don't think those rules apply to limited production vehicles are mfg's that produce small numbers.

Holy overreaction, Batman!
The Camaro SS is already done, of course they'll keep building them, hell, people on this site have been driving them. The CTS-V will continue production, Cobalt SS will continue production, blah blah blah. All it means is that future engineering/development of high-performance models has been suspended until further notice. Nothing more.

^GM would rather kill off all other performance models before they kill the Corvette. But I'm suspecting the C7 is a long ways a way.

Hold on guys.....the SS Camaro is a "regular" production car. The "SS" models and other "hi-po" cars included in that area are the ones requiring "extra" work to build, such as the "V" Cadi's, Cobalt SS and HHR SS, which are built off of a "regular" production model. The SS Camaro was always meant to be produced right from the start of the model, not an afterthought as the others. Say goodbye to a kick-ass Silverado SS and a next generation of STS-V's to go with the CTS-V.
