What the heck do you guys and gals expect with those RS package tires and the street tires on the SS's....they are made for bare pavement...the LT and LS all season work great, and with snow tires my camaro is a tank! Besides you have to know how to drive in snow! (which apparently lots of you don't). No sympathy from me

By the way, I got rid of those 20' inch rims and tires as soon as mine hit the dealer floor in December...run all 18's now

I drove my Camaro in the 4-5 inches of snow..... I have on 18" Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow and it felt as good as any other cars on snow, the traction control kicked in a few times but I had no problems up to 60 kmh

Some of you may recall that I spoke about the Camaro's performance in the snow last year right after I got "Thor."

He had a set of Pirelli ice and snow tires put on him prior to me picking him up.......I drove to the airport and parked him -- only to come back to 8 inches of snow on the ground - and it was still coming down.......

I, too, was somewhat wary -- but even on I-94 (which had not seen a plow yet) - -he handled incredibly well. No - -not like a 4wd Avalanche or Silverado - but very controllable as long as I drove sensibly..... When I got home, the Driveway had not been touched - and he went right up the driveway......

The key to all of this:

Do NOT take an SS out in the snow -- if the roads are covered -- unless you put all-seasons or snow tires on your Camaro. The tires on the SS are meant for performance -- not driving in snow.

Remember that a Camaro is low to the ground -- if you drive into deep snow, you ARE going to eventually pile snow under the car -- losing traction......
The Fbodfather has spoken!!!...

Listen to him...I have snow tires on my car for the winter and plan on driving it all year long...I will switch back to my summer tires if Spring ever gets back to NY!!!...

Been there, done that (yesterday). With the winter tires on the car is actually quite hard to spin unless you really give it gas. I actually had FUN driving home in the snow we had unlike most people I imagine. Took it to an empy parking lot and played with the traction control. With it turned off I hit the gas and just sat there. With it on the car actual started to move quickly and controllably. Stabilitrack also made it hard to spin the car out. I love this car!!

That's something to consider when buying an SS. Of course reading the messages here, I've observed that most people have SS's and their cars are garage queens. Now they are jealous that a stock v6 can have so much fun in the snow

"No way my camaro is ever seeing snow"
"I've had it in the garage since november"
etc..

I've also noticed you get people who don't "RTFOM" about winter driving and winter tires. (O=Owners)

Closest mine got to snow was an unplowed parking lot at the beach in December, went right through it to turn around with no problem. Rest of the main roads were dry.

You know what I say. It's not so much the snow that's a problem. It can somewhat navigate snow depending. It's the ICE!!! Ice and this car's current tires are a no go. Get some dedicated snow tires & wheels or don't drive this car in those conditions or you'll be sorry.

At the end of the day, do you really want to take that kind of chance of "MAYBE" you won't slide into another car or object and have $$$$ worth of damage....
