1.85 SLP rockers?

Was thinking about doing the SLP 1.85 rockers with my stock cam, BTR valve springs and pushrods, and bigger lower pulley. Instead of going into the engine and adding a cam. Then just add a 150-200hp shot of nitrous for 1/2 mile and mile racing. What say you all?

I thought about just the 1.85 rockers and springs too...the rockers are expensive and a cam swap would yield much more power. Not a bad idea but the cost is high for maybe 20 hp.

When you factor in the amount of labor saved by not changing out the cam it's actually pretty cheap in my opinion. I also figure the rockers would be worth a bit more than what they advertise since this is a boosted application and not NA. Sounds like I'm trying to talk myself into it, lol.

Anthony at LG Motorsports - I very much trust his advice - said adding the rockers means having to install new springs and spend time checking the pressure of the springs. On a dollar per HP basis - it's a bad investment.

For that kind of cash outlay - forget the pulley and install a cam. Another option would be a good head porting with the pulley.

Personally, I would do the cam, heads, AND pulley. If ya pull the motor apart...just do it once and get it over with.

I was already planning on new springs just to raise the rev limit. Based on the stock LSA cam specs of 198/216 .480/.480 122.5lsa using the 1.85 rockers would yield 198/216 .522/.522 122.5 lsa. That shouldn't fatigue good springs. The other point is I don't want to pull the motor apart. A little extra lift, more boost with pulleys, and some nitrous would be a lot easier on my wallet. I only really want the nitrous for doing 1/2 mile and mile racing. I don't need it to be 700rwhp all the time. Been there, done that with my C6. It's useless power on the street unless I run drag radials all the time. 600-650rwhp is the sweet spot for a good set of sticky summer tires. From my experience anyway.

So the crate LSA says it has a 198/216 .492/.480 cam in it with a 6600rpm redline. Is that a different cam that what our ZL1's come with? The cam part number is 12623064 and on GM Parts Direct it says stock LSA cam.

http://www.chevrolet.com/performance...gines/lsa.html

If it is the correct specs that would make the cam 198/216 .535/.522 122.5lsa with the 1.85 rockers.

I have always heard lift on the LSA was .480/.480 at least in 2012. Maybe they upped the lift for later model years or just for the GMP crate motors. I still think it is expensive and labor intensive for 12hp(SLP website info). I am all about the bolt ons...but if I have to swap springs and pushrods, I am going to swap the cam too for 70rwhp(approx).

Don't forget the duration numbers are measured at .050" lift, so with the increased rocker ratio, you will hit that number faster and result in longer measured duration than the 198/216.
