CAI installation

I have a 2012 Camaro 1LT RS. I am going to install a CAI, the instructions that came with the CAI say to disconnect the battery for a couple of hours or over night to keep from getting a check engine light. Is this necessary or can I just install the CAI and use it? Also does this installed part effect my warranty? Thanks for any input. Joe

You can install it and hit the road. Concerning the warranty, check out the thread below.

Will This Modification Void My Warranty?

So it does, or doesn't? LOL that thread is pretty "grey" about it.

No it doesn't void your warranty.

Grey? A service department or automotive manufacturer can not void your warranty simply because you have installed aftermarket parts or have modified your vehicle. They can, however, deny a warranty claim if they can prove the issue in question was a direct result of the installed part or modification.
