Like StLRammer says it may be ok under regular driving.

This one is too close to the sidewall for my liking,I got a nail in my tire last year but it was in the middle..

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It's actually on the flat part of the tire before the curve so the tire shop took the wheel off and said its safe to patch and should drive as good as before.

Whenever in doubt, you should always dismount the tire so that you can see exactly where the puncture is.

Did the shop use a patch with a plug built-in? I think they are called "mushroom" plugs.

When you get a nail in your tire you air it up and take it to be repaired. We, on the forum, cannot remove and inspect it.

And Homeless Man, I don't have one ounce of respect for someone who can scrape his car exiting his garage and claim to be homeless.

I have met more than my share of people who lived in public housing, abandoned buildings, stairwells, or an ally or on a street. I have given away more dollars, cigarettes, and sandwiches than you can imagine.
It's not just that post its every post. And I didn't scrape it on my garage. I scraped it on A garage.

Exactly. This is why there are forums.

But yes, I'll be going to a tire shop. Just don't want to be sold something I don't need and wanted some advice.

You are correct that out of his 7,703 responses to the forum, probably about 5% have been something beneficial. The rest are sarcasm and negativity. And you want to know something....I don't disrespect you at all for scraping your car! I've done it too. (Not my Camaro though LOL)!

Definitely call them to check. Patching a tire correctly is quite a process. You have to rough up the inside of the tire first and clean it out well so that the glue will adhere properly.

I had a similar nail puncture in my Hoosier slick and it was fine even years later on now.

We use to have a saying in the Marine Corps, if you have to ask if you need a haircut, then you need a haircut.

Quite a process is a bit of an exaggeration... It takes me 11 minutes from the car being pulled in to it being pulled out to do a full plug and patch RMA repair.

Coming from a guy that has repaired probably 1000+ tires now... As long as it is at least a half inch from the shoulder, it is repairable and perfectly safe to drive on.

After stopping at several shops to get a quick plug (and getting refused), we were close enough to my Dad's friend's tire shop. We stopped in there and he wouldn't even plug it. My Dad let him take the wheel off and patch it. They've been friends for over 40 years, so he trusted him not to scuff his wheel. Good luck OP.
Indeed, my go-to tire shop insists on patching from the inside, regardless of the puncture location. That is the right long-term repair.

I guess if you're doing it for a living, then it's not a big deal to you.
