Clyde,
I here ya. I'm still wanting a 5Gen Z28. I'm afraid the 6Gen will be much more forward in design and that's not what I want. I've tried to rationalize buying a 1LE and making it my own recipe with upgrades, but not sure I want to do that with a $40K car. I'm also concerned that if a 5Gen Z28 shows up at the end of its run that dealers will be price gouging. I've even been bitten by the new Subaru/Scion sportscar. Anticipation prolonged at some point will turn on ya. Just thinking out loud. |

I actually went to test drive a Dodge Dart. It's cheap and gets 40 mpg. I could use that mileage commuting to school, work and my girlfriend's house. |

And that is why I am so anxious to see what replaces the LS7. For those that want a gen5 Z get the 1LE and swap an LT1 into it! I dont mind waiting for a much lighter gen6 Z with LS7 replacement, it sound much more exciting than a gen5 Z.

I think the new LT1 motor would be the perfect fit in a lighter car.

Oh my!? Too much Toyota talk in the Z section. At least this isn't Schno's house. BRZs are nice but a 1LE is the V-8 Camaro version which automatically makes it better, even if its not a Z28.

I really don't see it being an issue with the LT1 "talking" with the current computer in the camaro..it's all about computer programming and run files, it's no different than people putting an LS3 in a '69 chevelle or an LS7 in a 2010 camaro. Sure there'd be different connectors and such to facilitate hooking up the different wiring but I would think they'd share a similar wiring schematic with an LS3 with just an extra wire here and there for the DI?

Lighter 6th Gen or not, new LT1 or not, there should be a 5th Gen Z/28. There aren't very many reasons not to build it.

Pete made a good point in the 1LE thread about the LS7, it will have no home with the C7 release. So IMO it makes sense to keep production rolling until there is an LS7 replacement in the new LT series of engines. That would be enough to take care of the 2014-2015 Z28!

IMO a 3500# LT1 Camaro makes for the ideal Z28 starting point, unless there is an LS7 replacement version LT engine with more HP. IMO 300# is AWESOME compared to 3,850# SS now. I also suspect the savings to be 300# at the minimum and as much as 400# is not out of the realm of possibilty. The only problem with the Gen6 Z28 is the wait because in all likelyhood it won't be released year one. I'm on board with the LS7 bandwagon now per my above post but I honestly will probably get a 1LE to hold me over until there is a gen6 Z.
