I never actually took a class or anything... I just watched lots of videos and disected them with my eyes and mind lol. I started video editing when I was in highschool, trying to do it with windows movie maker lol. Pretty crappy tool, but it was free and good enough back then. Just takes time to really get it down. I'm not a pro yet, somewhat because of experience, the other is budget (ie. good equipment, etc)

If you watch shows like Top Gear where editing makes 70% of what makes the show successful, then you will see why I love editing so much =D If you are interested in editing, I suggest just watching shows, but not for content, but for how things are shot =p (Pacing, rythm, angles, colors, etc)

I rambled again lol. Hope that gives you more of a background on me =P Do you have Facebook btw 10spoke? Have you joined the MZ page? =D

New episode. Though it may not help 5th gens out right now, since they are too new, but it might help out some of the older gens =D

Editing is always fun, and you can get really good at it if you practice a bit here and there.

I know exactly what you mean about watching shows for editing. I had to take courses on editing in college while I was studying animation, and it was cool to see your finished vids. You really do find yourself watching for and commenting on the editing of a film after you've practiced it for a while or been taught what to look for. It goes even farther if you're taught shot composition.

Re-watch 'The Matrix' with an eye for shot composition and you'll have an idea of why that movie was so intangibly amazing (and part of why the other two sucked). The shot that always sticks out in my head is when Neo gets his first call from Morpheus in his cubicle. If you look at all of the lines along the cabinets above his head, they all point directly at his eyes. Stuff like that is all over the movie, mainly because the storyboarder was friggin' amazing and set up all of these shots in the conceptual stages.
