I have owned both as well, NO stock 01,02 ss is going to beat a A6 M6 10 SS with good drivers driving both cars

With full exhaust and intake the LS1 car is going to see a large gain in power and putting the LS1 on top everytime.

Mod for mod.. now that would be interesting (I would put my money on the LS3 though).

ericsnow25 - FWIW my car (2001 Z28 T-Top M6) was 3440lbs full weight (full tank of gas) just a couple of months ago.
Epic beat down, hardly. I would give a slight edge to the LS1 because of headers but it's so close it's a drivers race.

So stock for stock what would you say? I want to know how an LS1 car that is running close to the same times bone stock as the 2010 SS doesn't get any faster with mods.

There's that little word again, "close". We have seen 12.8's from a bone stock LS3 5th gen. You're claiming 13.1 in the quarter. 3/10's is about the gain (30hp) from headers and exhaust. It will most certainly not be an "epic beat down". It will be a drivers race.

Stock for stock you're looking at 3/10's difference. We haven't seen a 2010 run in cool weather. I'll see you at the fall track rental.

You're also assuming I can drive nearly as well as speedy...(which I know isn't true)...

Numerous people have run 12.8 ~ 12.9s in 4th gen LS1 cars (including Nineball).. I am simply not that good at driving, hell my Fiancee pulled a 13.17 on her 3rd pass at Cordova (and her first time at a track racing ever).

You can't look at my times vs the best times ever for a 5th gen and make a clean cut comparison. My 3 tenths can be made up by a better driver...it wouldn't take 30rwhp...(considering my pass was on a 2.15 60ft and I hit the rev limiter between shifts.) with equal drivers the LS1 is going to take this one hands down.

It's only a 3/10s difference with me driving... put someone behind the wheel that can actually drive and the difference is no where near that large.

I agree that we will probably see 12.7 from a stock SS at Atco in negative DA with 110~111 traps but it still doesn't take away from the fact that an LS1 4th is relatively close stock for stock (running high 12s and 108~109 traps on it's best passes) and adding 30rwhp is going to swing things in it's favor. If the 4th gen driver sucks and the 5th gen driver has his A game then I agree it's a drivers race.

See you at Cordova.

Looks like I should have my clutch in by the rental..are you bringing the 2010? Maybe we should line them up and see how close it is without headers? If nothing else you can shut me up.

Yup I'll be there with the tank. I thought we already had a race for comparison sake locked in. Should be fun. This will be the first time taking the car down the track though and the first manual car down the 1320 for me. I'm hoping for the best!

Edit: I forgot I have a different S/N on here. I'm DarkSS from MFBA.

Yeah I put it together after I posted that. Trust me there is no hate... just benchracing at it's finest. If you skim my posts over there and here you won't find me in the 'tank' bashing threads. My only 'dislike' is the rearend.. aside from that you won't find any bashing on my part.

I know I'm not trying to start any fights or any thing like that. Mutual respect here as well.

I think we may see a bit better than 12.7 in negative DA's because in 0 DA (which is what the DA calculator corrects to, yes?) people have already run 12.7's (both Nineball and Speedy's runs corrected to 12.7 in 0 DA). So I assume negative DA may push it up a tenth or two with a really good driver.

Long tubes, a lid, and 4:10's? If the 4th gen found traction, it would not look good for a stock 5th gen.

DA corrections are not used on the top list for a reason.

Case in point..I ran 13.4 @ 104mph on a 2.1 60ft @ 3200DA... corrected that pass was 12.883 @ 108.254 MPH

Went back to the strip with -127 DA and a 2.1 60ft got me nowhere near that. The corrections are not accurate at all...just educated guesses. If you hunt around the boards a bit you will find many people who think 12.7 will be a freak incident and 12.6 to be a bit out of reach. We will see what happens but without -1500+DA it's not going to happen often if at all like everyone wants it too.

Its all about the 60' guys...I have seen headers, lid, tune, DR m6 4th gens easily run 12.2-12.4 @ 112 or so...that trap suggests that is a VERY good ET, we should have several 5th gens trap that come Oct/Nov...problem is, can their 60' be good enough for them to ET that low...STOCK? Sure if you start switching out the brakes, running bigs/littles, suspension work, etc you could get there, but the OP's question is can a stock 5th gen outrun essentially a mild bolt-on 4th gen (LS1)...Drivers being equal I think it will be close...I hope you guys try it and video the whole thing, cause it will be fun to watch.

I would be VERY shocked if that happens... Right now if the corrections are even close 0DA is going to net 110mph traps -1500DA would be 111mph. (this is based on the best time actually ran at a track and posted on this site)...if someone knows of a glory run I haven't seen yet please let me know.

In stock form it MIGHT be possible but I wouldn't bet any money on it. I certainly wouldn't count on it happening more than a couple times tops.
