Reward a turncoat dealer?
Judging by the threads / posts of late, it looks like we've got some turncoat dealers that are starting to appear.
Well, I thought I'd ask this question then. Do you think one should buy a car from a dealer who has now changed the philosophy from asking above MSRP to asking for MSRP? Would you buy from a turncoat dealer? If you will buy, what has this dealer learned? Has the dealer learned that it's OK to gouge the customer since there is no consequence for doing so? I mean that dealer has taken full advantage of the situation, raked in as much money as possible, and then changes when the demand goes down in relation to supply. What about when the convertible Camaro comes out? Won't this same dealer ask above MSRP again because initial demand for the convertible will be higher than supply? Would you trust this dealer to do your service work on your car in terms of getting a fair price for the cost of the service? If you will buy, doesn't that hurt the dealer who was brave enough to ask for only MSRP when most were asking above it? How do you reward the original dealer who didn't ask for above MSRP? Who's going to buy from a "changed" dealer? |

Just buy from a guy like CamaroScotty. It's easier that way.

Turncoat dealers are like the plague, avoid them at all costs (Putnam, Stewart, Boardwalk Chevy on the peninsula), and John L Sullivan from sac area.
I'm gonna order from SoCal... |

Trust is a fragile thing...just ask Tiger Woods' spouse. Can you really forgive and forget? Those that have been straight and honest will remain straight and honest. The others....ahhhhh, just let the wind blow them like chaff.

I've had very good experiences with vendors here. BeckyD@RodgersChevrolet has been very helpful to me as well as CamaroScotty.

Dave at Wigder has been helping me out as well, for those of you on the East Coast.
While I don't think they should be rewarded, maybe buying from formerly bad dealers now that they are at or below MSRP will encourage them to stop being D-bags in the future! |

On the other side of that coin though is the fact that the economy is rough and this is like any other high demand low volume product other than cars. How many of you have bought the newest PC or T.V. because it was a must have then 6 months later they are fire selling the same one? You in affect did the same thing there and the stores took advantage of it didn't they?
I don't condone gouging at all, but the way capitalism works is that you make money when you can and survive when you can't. This also does not have ANYTHING to do with the service you would get at any particular dealership as they are run for the most part independent of the front end of the business. Most sales people have no clue as to what goes on behind the sales floor doors. IMHO of course.

There are very few dealers on here that have been at MSRP and even fewer that have been accepting GM Discounts from Day 1!!! Newman and Classic are just two of them!!!

Not to mention, we let that be known several months ahead of the pre-ordering....when others said "there will be no GM discounts on Camaro"

Feeling a little bit left out here...
We are also one of the few dealers that have accepted all discounts and rebates since the beginning. |
