New 18 Race Star Wheel

Just got these in,

thought i'd share a pic.

wheel turned out much better than I originally thought it would.

This is a 17x7 and 18x10.5 combo on both cars.

The brake weight / balancer does need to be removed on the early models to fit.

Should be a pretty popular combo.

Hmmmmm....those look nice. I'd like to see the drag stars in the same sizes.

17's do not clear the rear on the newer ss's

i'm not a vendor, so not quoting any prices here, just sharing the pics

Are you sure that's right? Sounds extremely heavy. My 18x11 Forgestar F14 rears were only 21.5 lbs. My 17x10 Welds are 19.5 lbs.

well these are 1"bigger, and half inch wider

the welds run a few pounds lighter.

but for an 18x10.5" wheel, thats not real heavy

I think these are a "cast" wheel, right? That may explain the weight difference. My 20x11 Forgestars (rotary-forged) weigh the same 28 lbs. A fully forged wheel would weigh even less. Not trying to brag or anything, just wondering why these seem to weigh a bit more than other 18" wheels.

it's not advertised as an ultra lite wheel

it's a light wheel designed in the smallest size to clear the rotor to get a drag radial on the car

the 15 drag wheels weigh in the teens

Well they are the same diameter and 1/2" NARROWER than my F14 wheel, which is 30% lighter.
Honestly I think your numbers may be wrong. I have researched a TON of wheels for these cars and all the 18s I looked at were in the mid to low 20s. Hell, even the cast stock 18x10.5 vette wheels are mid to low 20s.

While they do seem a little heavy, they might make up for it by allowing the skinny 235 front tires. Also rear drag radials weigh less than normal street radials. I may just pick them up as a brand, because I get a lot of drag wheel inquiries and people don't like waiting 2 months for Forgestar 18s.
