Blue Gauge Ring Lights Problem?

So I spent over an hour searching today and couldn't find the answer, so please don't flame me about the search.

I have a 2LT/RS. No blue rings light up at all. The gauges themselves light up in blue, but there's no blue rings lighting up. Do they come on automatically when you turn the car on, or just the headlights? Also, I noticed tonight that the dimming scroll switch doesn't dim anymore, only stays on the bright setting and won't dim when scrolling down. The dim scroll did work before, now doesn't, the blue rings never lit up since I've had the car (only a little over a week and haven't driven at night yet)

Am I missing something to turn the ring lights on? Anyone else have this problem?

They are quite dim, so maybe you just can't see them if you haven't driven at night yet?

Although with what you say about the scroll dimmer not working, I wouldn't be suprised if you have a small wiring gremlin.

they arent bright during the day but i havent driven at night either. But as far as the scroll thing, your lights have to be on not just automatic daytime running lights. Try this, go in your garage tonight and turn car on, if the lights dont go on, turn the knob right twice, then play with the scroll wheel. Now hold it when you want it to go.

the rings do not light up 'brightly' - -and that's because they could be distracting at night.

(....tidbit -- ONE of the issues with ambient lighting in the I.P. was the fact that we found it so very distracting at night..)

Pull into your garage or some other dark place -- when you shut the car off, the rings should have a faint 'glow' --
