Will my car raise the value of my house??

Ok, I know it won't, but it was cool to have the appraiser walk back in from the garage and say "How did you get a Camaro SS convertible? I've only seen it at the Barrett-Jackson show" He also liked my Borla system..... come on big money!!

Took 3 tries in the last couple of years to finally be able to refi a few months ago- everyone in the process is much, much more cautious, and that's fine, but man the appraiser really has a lot of control and they were erring way too far on the side of caution. What really sucked was getting assigned appraisers that were coming from over 100 miles away and apparently not getting that it "just costs more to live here". Mine finally went through the last time when i got an appraiser FROM this area. Huge pain in the butt, sure hope you have better luck! Things do seem to have changed a little for the better lately.

I believe appraisals are subjective to a certain extent. For example, I once left and appraiser waiting 30 minutes, and it was dismal.

If you connect on the other hand, the fudge factors improve.

Have you ever met someone and you just can't connect and have nothing in common? My rule of thumb used to be sports. If you like football, NASCAR and women, we have a lot to talk about and you will be my buddy for life. You can now add camaro to that list.

However guys and gals, if dancing with the stars, figure skating and hybrids are your topics of choice, we don't have much in common.

The problem is that Uncle Sam has made it so lenders cannot choose the appraiser anymore (I am in mtg lending) so we have to utilize a 3rd party source, which ultimately results in an appraiser not always knowing the area. And it just snowballs from there.

Believe me.... we feel your pain on our side too, we just can't show it as much due to needing to remain PC to our employer and the rules.
