Getting my Honda CT70 restored

I've got a 1971 Honda CT70, AKA "Trail 70" with 4,150 miles that I'd love to get restored.

It's in "good" condition, meaning no rust and would take minimal effort to get running. After that, it will likely need some engine work and a lot of cosmetic work to look great again. Without going into a ton of detail, I'm sure it would need a new seat, limited body repair, new paint and decals, new tires, re chroming throughout, etc. Overall, there's not a lot of damage, but needs a lot of re-freshing....

Can anyone recommend a shop in the Midwest that would do this work? I've found a few by googling and they all say they are "the best". ;-)

And if anyone knows the likely cost of this kind of restoration, I'd appreciate hearing opinions.

Thanks!

ohh I had trail 90 in highschool, I ended up trading with my uncle though. I think he spent around $1500-$3000 overall. I was kinda rough on it while driving it on the farm and it was already in rough shape when I got it

I'm willing to bet that LOTS of these bikes had a hard life. lol...
I was hoping to spend on the lower end of that range, but I think you are totally in the ballpark.

Can't recommend a shop...

But my friends down the street growing up in Tampa in the early 70's had one of those, while I had a Montgomery Wards Golden Pinto mini bike. What a bunch of fun we had riding.

If Memory serves me correctly, there is a Vespa shop in Kansas City that does restoration.
They bought my old '71(?) Rupp Roadster II to restore and display.

I suggest trying some junkyards? I helped him with it about 5 yrs ago as that's when I graduated and was about to leave for college. Its also how we found some BMW bike parts. never really found a vendor since its a small market

I saw some brand new CT 70 and Mini Trail 50 clones at a Good Guys show a few years ago. Here is a link to a parts site.

Maybe it will help. I had a Mini Trail 50 and a cousin had a CT 70 as out 1st bikes.. great times on the farms.

I was just on that website. lol

Also, Dr. ATV has a good website and there are a few decent forums that provide advice. Even Amazon has some parts. In the end, I may just tackle this myself (aside from painting the frame if I decide to go that far).
