ZL1 coming...should I buy another Camaro?
I have a ZL1 on order and it will be a summer weekend car for me. It's also time for a new DD and I plan on leasing a GM so I can use my contacts and GM Visa points to get a good deal. The car is for me to use back and forth for work and the occasional errand with my 2 kids, so I want a 5 star safety rating, 4 seats, and something on the bigger side (around 4,000 lbs), but it has to be a car to fit under my lift. So, that leaves me with the Cadillac CTS Coupe and Sedan, Buick Lacrosse and the Camaro. If I am totally honest with myself, the one I like the best is the 45th Anniversary Camaro. However, my wife and kids think I am crazy for getting the "same" car. BTW, all leases work out to be about the same monthly cost given the options I want on each. Am I nuts to get a second Camaro????

I think having a non ZL1 would make me wish I was in the ZL1. Then again Being in a Camaro of any type would make me feel better than not being in any Camaro at all. I like the CTS too.

If you don't get the ZL1, don't go for a ride or drive one.......cause then you will regret it :-)
The 45th anniversary is nice, but having the top performer to let loose the power when you want will make you smile each time you press the gas pedal. Owning a car with a supercharger I can tell you, there is nothing like the rush of linear power (well turbos are also cool!).....that put you in the back of your seat! Another thing to think about......a well engineered car with proper suspension will actually be a more comfortable ride for longer trips if you decide you and your wife want a weekend jaunt for fun. Case in point.....I used to have an 05 Dodge Magnum R/T. Loved the car but when the 06 SRT8 came out I was up against the same dilemma you are now. I finally decided to order the SRT8. It came in before I had sold my R/T so I had two black Magnums in my driveway at the same time and almost got divorced.....BUT, I will tell you, I was SOOOO happy with the SRT8 and it became my favorite touring car and MUCH nicer than the R/T in every way. Now that it is boosted, it is an animal but still a great handling touring car.....no regrets. The ZL1 will never let you get bored and will be high smile value for the dollar. The other cars you have on your list are great, but you may be modding them sooner than later to get what you could have had in the ZL1 from the factory (with a full warranty). Good luck with a tough decision and decide on something that won't allow any regrets :-) |

out of those choices CTS would be my vote if gas milage is not a concern. I am not a fan fo the ATS. I would rather have the BMW they are trying to compete agains based on looks alone. I wanted to like it but I threw up in my mouth a bit when I actually saw it.
I don't see the point in having two of the same car even though I like both cars. Does in have to be GM product? some of the doge chrysler cars are fun as well.

As freakin cool as it would be to have two 5th gens, you will probably regret it, since the cars are obviously similar, regardless of HP and suspension. Id go with the caddy, its a diff car, more luxury, etc.

I would go with the CTS. Even though the camaro has a back seat it is not very good for hauling people. My daughter never wanted to ride in the back seat.

I would get a Buick Regal GS. Very nice car and lots of room for the kids. Your kids would be miserable in the back seat of your DD Camaro. Fun car only. Not a DD for a family man.
