I've been jacking her up on the suspension sub-frame in the front and back and then putting a 2x2x6 block of wood up against the pinch weld in the factory recommended lift points before setting it down on the stands

You can see the block of wood in this shot

I don't use a jack...get 2 - 2" x 12" rough cut boards one about 30 inches the other about 30...cut ends at 45 degree angles place short on on top ( do this for both sides (nial or screw it to bottom board)...thats all you need to change the oil...

A guy at the tire store said not to jack up the rear of the car on the differential. He said that with an IRS you can damage something inside the housing.

Just to say thanks for this thread

I just used it for guidance on jacking my car up to fit front and rear sway bars and it was really helpful
I am always paranoid jacking up a new car for first time when trying to figure out safe points for jacks and axle stands

Many thanks folks

The pics are to dark to see where you lifted from and placed your stands.

I had a light like this one. A couple of months ago I turned it and and heard nothing but buzzing and zapping as I scrambled to put it down and unplug it, it began smoking. But I still agree, better than a exploding bulb in the face.

I jack up the rear by placing the floor jack on the rear differential mount between the exhaust pipes. I use a 4X4 block of wood on the jack head. As mentioned before, the car will roll back, so you need to block the front wheels.
I have seen pictures of Camaros being jacked up at the differential. I don't think I'd jack the car that way.
