Conservative tune help me get 50/100 hp more
1 have a 2011 Camaro SS a6. Recently I completed my 1st dyno tune on e85 and made 602hp / 539 tq pushing 12 psi but I thought I would of been closer to 650.
Since I’ve fallen short, now I want to chase these numbers and see if I can hit 650/700rwhp goal! My motor mods: LSA blower BTR stg 2 cam 227/242 .614"/.592" BTR dual springs pushrods lifters retainers etc Che bronze trunnion Ls3 timing/valley cover Dod/vvt delete Dsx flex fuel e85 sensor Dsx aux fuel pump kit / braided lines Id1050x injectors ZL1 fuel pump, Griptech 2.55 pulley Solo performance Mach ll 2.5 catback exhaust 1” 7/8th Lt headers w/ 2” titanium black wrap Mighty Mouse wild catch can w/ -12 an lines Cold air inductions 4” modified cai Stock throttle body MSD wires Ngk iridium plugs Edelbrock reservoir Bosch pump Braided lines/an fittings Gm ZL1 heat exchanger LSX innovation tensioner 6-rib Aero force dual A-pillars gauges Gm stock ss lower balancer 8.00 (I think?) The tuner mentioned I’m at 15* timing. I feel like I’m restricted on my tb, cai & catback exhaust. So I need suggestions on new parts or recommendations on parts I have that I should replace with upgraded versions.

Here’s my dyno vid but it may not be what you’re expecting because the shop asked me not to film inside while the car was on the rollers.http://youtu.be/8L59mWWdoFw

Also I have a stock ZL1 balancer and a Dsx 8 rib 10% overdrive pulley for extra parts. I know to use the od pulley that would require me to purchase ati damper. Should I sale these extras or keep for my build but if I use them how will they effect my overall performance hp/boost levels.

Yeah, your tune is definitely conservative if it was tuned on E85, and only set a 15* timing. The stock TB will support a fair amount of HP on a PD blower. I made 806rwhp @ 10psi on E85 with a Whipple, 227/243 cam, ported stock heads, LT 1-7/8" headers, and full 3" exhaust.
Buy the ATI balancer and throw on the 10% OD pulley. It will make all of your numbers go up.......HP=up, TQ=up....fuel consumption=up....smiles=UP!!! -Scott |

A general rule of thumb I have seen for forced induction is your NA power output should be replicated for every atmosphere of pressure (aka bar, or 15 psi). At 12 pounds you're looking at almost double. Looking at the mods you should have been around 400 NA, so I would expect numbers over 700. Agree with Scott, that's a conservative tune for sure.

It also could be a miss-calibrated dyno, at least partially

5 inch intake and bigger quality tb and retune is what ive seen for the PD guys, hell Bo white has a 5in on his NA build and that guy knows alot!

I know nick williams 103 tb is a really quality piece but does anyone have an opinion about Granatelli Motor Sports 103 tb? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/grn-gmtbls3m

That timing is what you'd run on 93 octane... costing you quite a bit of power. I'd guess you could run 4-5 more degrees no problem... probably pick up 30-40hp.

I went and looked at my timing tables, and I am seeing 18* for 93 octane, and then there is additional timing added for alcohol. The amount if timing added depends on the percentage of alcohol content in the fuel. As for an A/F ratio, for a boosted application, 11.5 is plenty safe (pump gas). -Scott |

It’s all in the timing. 15 degrees is insanely low…especially on E85. Could be that the tuned for pump gas but then didn’t set up the right transfer table for the ethanol sensor? You can search here and read many posts about how much timing people are running on E85 with a build like yours.
Pulling timing back is a failsafe way to protect a motor. To be “conservative”. But timing adds a ton of power too. Max power always runs on that ragged edge. |
