High iats

What are you florida guys doing for high iats? I have ecs 1500 kit and I'm wondering is my only option to run meth.

Meth won’t cool it that much. I run 1000 cc in the intake and 450cc directly into the supercharger lid. 100% meth

I recently bought a vented carbon fiber hood and bought the bigger intercooler for my ECS 1500. We shall see how that helps after I install it.

My IATs are usually 35°-45° below ambient temp with my Killer Chiller. I live in AZ now but just moved from GA where it's much like FL with the humidity.

This pic was taken in GA.

Did you have the older upright intercooler? I'm wondering if that's the one I have now, since it's not that upright one.

Can you use that with a centrifugal sc?

IAT sensor and location are important. Did you separate and relocate it from the MAF? Choose and using a different sensor (e.g., Rife)?

My IATs drop 20 degrees on 100% meth, but I did the divorced IAT sensor like Dreksnot mentioned.

I don't believe we did. The maf was reused in the new pipping that came in the kit. And we swapped out the map for a 3 bar.

MAP and MAF different. The MAF is usually about 18" upstream of the throttle body. Many inject meth about 6" before the throttle body which would be after the IAT sensor so one couldn't see the temp reduction of the meth. That's why I asked. Where are you injecting meth and where is the IAT sensor (MAF, not MAP)?

Currently not injecting meth. I'm just asking what are my options to deal with high iat. And if meth is the only way. The maf is located around 12-18 in front of the throttle body in the new pipping. So what your saying is it has to be before the maf to read correctly.

Ok. I have been trying to avoid using meth for years. When running my SBE LS3, I relaxed my spark reduction table (IAT Spark Advance Correction - Add) so that the ECU would not start pulling timing until much higher temperatures and pull less timing. I was able to run up to 15psi before temperatures got a little toasty for me (got nervous). After LSX'ing and going bigger turbos, I decide to try 100% water injection and moving the IAT sensor to behind the throttle body. Must moving the IAT sensor was a huge eye opener. Much faster readings and showed actual in the intake manifold air temperatures. Then, with the pure water injection showed marked IAT's reductions. After doing that for a while I wanted a little more protection (adding octane) so I am trying a 50/50 meth/H2O mixture. I haven't gotten a chance to go out and play hard (25+ psi boost levels). That all said, water and meth WILL reduce IAT's, in my case 30-40*F easily with just water, more with meth. Just moving the IAT sensor (and using a Rife), the temperatures appeared lower at high boost, but higher during cruise - that alone may "remedy" your high IAT's itself.

Great info thank you
