Black friday is the day after thanksgiving. Most stores sell 50% more than normal on that day. Everything goes on sale for x-mas starting on black friday.

Like mindz said.. but in reality its become more of a marketing scheme.. Stores Mark certain popular items WAY down under cost to draw customers in.. but it only cuases customers to line up days in advance just to buy those marked down items..

For instance Last year here in phx TV's and Computer monitors where the rage, I got a 32" LCD tv for $399.99 but I had to stand in line for 2 hours (5am to 7am). I wanted a 22" wide screen monitor for my PC but when i got to best buy (at 4:30am) there where already over 80 people in line. So I popped over to Home depot (Plan B) and was first person in line at 5 am.. nobody thinks of TV's when you mention home depot.. but they had them and I got one.

PS. I never shop black Friday sales unless I'm buying for myself, No gift is worth spending large amounts of time in line unless I'm benefiting.

ssfreak..... good luck. but honestly i worked in retail for about 4 years and i loved working black friday. i always thought it was great to see all the people freaking out. and plus all the eyecandy

that is out that day is great too.

i usually don't shop black friday because id rather sleep in. last year i was working 3rd shift and i had thur to fri off that week and checked the ads to see if there was anything worth getting. at radio shack they had a virgin mobile slice cell phone for 19.99 (normally 48.99) so i got that and at office max they had a 1 gig SD memory stick for my camera for 12. i live in a small town so i was in the RS 30 seconds after they opened the gate and i was back home in less then 30 minutes (including both stores

I have one of the most popular shopping areas in my district. Last year was very smooth and I don't remember any calls coming out....no problems really. Maybe an accident or two. But, hopefully this year will run just like last year. It'll be busy as hell, but no problems.
