Ambient lighting reliability
Does anyone know how well this interior illumination system holds up? I think it is a really cool feature and I will be getting it, but my one worry is that it may not last for more than a few years. I think I saw somewhere that the only other cars that have this are a few Mercedes, and that is only recently so this system has not really been time-tested. Or am I mistaken?

Hehe ok, I know led's have a very long life, but is that all there is to the lighting (I thought I remembered something about fiber-optics, but that should not impair longevity right?)? If so that is good news, although regardless I have faith GM will put in a great lighting system anyways!

Led's are not damaged by vibration, moisture, and violent shocks. the reason they will last so long is because the way they are designed keeps is in a way that minimalizes reason for failure. about the only reason for failure is damage to the circuitry or Overheating of the bulb. which takes massive amounts of heat. which would not be sustainable in a setting with such a small numvber of bulbs

I have a question for you all. My fiancee' just went and ordered a 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS #10/13 from the dealership. I see that some of you have a Hurst short throw shifter as an option on your Camaro, as well as the ambient lighting. These were never offered to us, the only thing we had a choice of was sunroof, RS package, interior/exterior color, and stripes. What options were you all offered? It was our understanding from our dealer that the ambient lighting was standard.
