So what's the deal? GM won't let you guys deliver it to a local dealer for easy pickup?

Yeah, what he said!

When I ordered my GTO through an Illinois dealership, we arranged for me to take delivery from a local Southern California one. I only had to pay a $500 dollar fee for that, which would be less than airfare and gas…

Heck, I'm not talking about paying EXTRA. That's what the Destination Charge is for!

And BTW, I live closer to the factory than his dealership, so I'm saving GM money if they send it here!

We can and are willing to work with a local dealer to drop ship your car. The dealership in your area. We would have to find one that is willing to take the drop shipment.

I will post this in the original post as well!

Hmm, I live in MA...and it's about an 18 hour ride. Which, with gas prices they are today...would cost about $230. That's cheaper and a heckuva lot more fun than waiting to pick it up off of CSX or something LOL

I just got that from the top. Now, if everyone decides they want a car, I'll have issues. Everyone will have to deal with allocation to start, but we were told regionally that this will be an open allocation car. The Malibu started the same way.

I'm not going to make false promises and tell everyone wanting to make a deposit we can deliver. If a deposit is placed, it will go against our allocation. Once that's determined, we'll see how we stand for quantity. Our goal isn't 75, 100, or 300 deposits.....It's to sell our allocation as we get it. We will make every attempt to get a car without making false promises.

Right now, I am confident we can deliver.

Same here. It'd cost WAY too much to have it shipped to South Jersey.

Sadly the CARB Nazis frown upon cars bought outside the state. By the time I plan to buy a Camaro hopefully I won't have a problem finding a dealer in Southern California not charging markups.
