Question nitrous on v6 camaro?

A buddy of mine told me I should look into getting a nitrous set up on my v6 camaro. He said there is one made by ZEN. I am concerned that this could kill the engine. Whats ur take..?

Sounds like you need to do a LOT more research. You can destroy any engine with nitrous. It's all about how greedy you get and how well you have it tuned.

Nitrous is cheating, IMO. To me it's no different than an athlete using roids.

BB11...did you happen to catch the HOMEPAGE story about the V6 that dipped into the 11 second quarter mile using nitrous?? That is amazing. You need to do some research in the V6 Forced Induction section. There are topics on the subject.

The V6 Camaro can take a 50 to 75 shot without a need for a tune. Once you get into the 100+ shot it is probably a good idea for a tune, although I'm pretty certain the member here who ran the fast 1/4 mile time didn't even have a tune on his car. Just a few basic mods and better traction.

.

Lots of people feel that way, but really the only reason you feel it is cheating is because it is so cheap/easy to do. No different than throwing on a supercharger/turbo on any car to make it much more powerful, except it is not expensive.

So what about the few super modified Camaros here that are running into the 8 and 9 second quarter miles with their huge list of mods AND a shot of nitrous? Was that cheating?

It is a matter of opinion.

After voiding your warranty and paying for burned pistons, it would be cheaper to trade up to a SS.

If you want faster why not upgrade to a SS. Your just going to want faster and faster so might as well start with a baseline V8 to build from.

Nitrous can be had for pretty cheap.

And a V6 just ran 11.9 using nitrous and spent WELL below the cost of an SS, much less a sub 12 second SS.

I'm not talking cost effective I'm talking about have a V8 starting point to mod from if speed is what he's after.

I was just posing a possible answer to your question. That would be a good reason why. Because someone may not be able to afford to buy a V8 and especially buy it and mod it up.

Not sure what the OP is after but my advice would be to not just throw some spray in and go.

Better get some expert opinions and even facts.

I know it's been around forever, but I heard it from CamaroSpike;

Fast
Reliable
Cheap

Pick 2. But it's the one you leave on the table that is the key.

I feel it's cheating because a car with nitrous can pretty much take any car that doesn't have nitrous.

Have nitrous...will win.

Plus it's just soooo Fast and Furious.
