Which is the best x-pipe?
I looking at doing a resonator delete on my L99 and was trying to decide on which x-pipe to get. I was looking at the Magnaflow Tru X and this X-pipe from Summitracing. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/su...t/model/camaro. Does the Magnaflow have any advantage over the Summit racing x pipe? I like the idea of having less pieces with the Summit racing pipe.

Go with the Magnaflow they are great x-pipes. That is what I have on mine.

I installed the summit stainless x-pipe last month (I was unaware jegs had the same one on sale for less dammit) and it went well except for one thing.
it was posted before the summit will sag if not welded in and on mine it did sag at the rear joints and hit the tunnel brace. I didnt want to get it fully welded in case of needing to remove it for future work. so what I did is jacked it up with a wood block, tack welded the rear x-pipe joints on the bottom and installed stainless exhaust band clamps at the rear. that way I just need to cut the tack welds if I want to remove the x-pipe. I had about half inch clearance to the stock tunnel brace but I bought the Halo tunnel brace which adds another 3/4" clearance.

The Summit X-pipe is a direct replacement for the L99 resonator. You will have to add pipe to the Magnaflow to make it work. You are not going to see any real performance gain with an x-pipe so for me the advantage would go to the one that is easier to install.

Most all named brand Xpipes are going to do the same thing. I would buy whichever one is within your budget and do not worry about the name of who made each one. We use Summit brand exhaust parts all the time on our custom exhaust systems and have absolutely no issues. A lot of time, the Summit stuff is the exact same as some of the other competitors. Just has a different name on the box.

Jegs X-pipe. Cheaper than the summit version (which I have), free shipping, and it's the same design.

Anyone running X-Pipe with stock cans? I searched on the exhaust thread and didn't see it. Looking for input. OP put up a vid when you get it done.

Let me clarify the reason that I went with the Magnaflow is be cause of the design. It is not like the others where there are two pipes welded together. It is an actual pressed together and looked like it would have better flow so that is why I went with that one. There are cheaper and easier options but that is the choice that you would have to make.

I just installed the x pipe from summit racing. It is a direct fit. BUT it was sagging and I had to have the back welded. Local muffler shop charged me $50 to cut resonator out, install x pipe and weld the back... Nice and tight now... no sagging.
BTW the jeggs and summit x pipes are the same. I decided on the summit because I had 50 summit bucks to spend.... |

I have been running true duals since the first month that I owned my camaro, along with flowmaster super 10 mufflers. I have since added tri y headers and am running catless, I absolutely love how it sounds. I read that running true duals eliminates the scavenging that our cars need and I was losing a small amount of HP, so I decided to buy and install the magnaflow tru x crossover to get the lost HP back. After the install I immediately noticed that I lost some of my sound, It made it a little more refined but I didnt like how it toned it down " im a LOUDER THE BETTER kind of guy". Im sure that I gained a couple of HP from the X pipe, but since I couldnt feel the difference I went back to true duals. Nothing at all wrong with the x pipe, my priorities were just to keep the sound that I had, and I couldnt tell a power difference.

I have the Jegs x pipe ready to install, it was on sale with free shipping was $20 cheaper than Summit.
Probably install early next week, will take pics. I'm assuming that I'll have it tack welded but honestly I'd like to take it off in one piece anyway just like stock is.
