Question about mods for those with experience

Hi - So I've got a ZL1 it's automagic, when you live in California, and traffic sucks, it's sometimes better to call your losses and get an auto.

So far I've got a roto-fab intake, American racing headers, high flow cats, and corsa exhaust. Do I need to tune this car? The headers and cats I haven't installed yet, I'm assuming a check engine light.

+ 1 Upgrade your pulleys at the same time as installing the headers then get a tune !

But changing out the pulley's isn't so simple it's like you gotta take the whole supercharger apart.

Your going to love the sound with the American Racing Headers !

No tune is required, but for optimal performance HP gains, you will!

Lower pulley doesn't require taking the whole supercharger apart. Only the upper pulley requires supercharger removal.

Ok, so I've been running basically that same setup, exception being that I still have the factory pipes and mufflers. I've had it 10,000 miles or so with CEL and it runs fine, runs better than stock on the drag strip, sounds really good. The CEL doesn't bother me as long is it's those two codes it's supposed to throw and I can't remember what they are off of the top of my head.

But as others mentions, I'm about to do a pulley and a tune anyway.

Is there a tool I can buy to get rid of the CEL's or should I just send it to Hennessey Performance for them to tune it for me.

The CEL's dont hinder any performance gains.... Just find a good tuner in your area and watch the HP gains, GM left a whole lot on the table. Just keep in mind depending on your dealer they will void your warranty ! IMHO its so worth all the mods.

I've seen you mention this a few times before.
I wouldn't suggest to ANYONE to run their FI car with a check engine light. Especially at the track.

Let's just say for instance you develop an air leak which should trigger you engine light showing it's running lean, but the light's on consistant already for some 02 sensors.
How will you know there's a problem before BOOM.

No, you do not. We change the crank pulley not the SC pulley. At least to go 20% over.
