It's too bad we can't visit the plan. It would have been worth it to take 1-2 days off work and drive all the way there. I'm still considering going though if I can get free that is. If not I'll send a letter.

EDL in NY takes about 2 weeks to get after you go to the DMV and apply. They renew your DL right then, so you need to pay off the full amount for 8 years, prorated based on how many years you have left on your current NY DL. Before you go, make sure you take everything they need to process your EDL. If you don't they won't accept your application.
