PTM modes possibly slower?

I hadn't tried any of the PTM modes during the first 1500 miles. Played with them a little bit, PTM 3,4,5. The car actually feels slower to me in PTM than being in standard mode ( both Tour and Sport). Is this normal? I notice it most at partial throttle (40-60%). Seems that PTM 3 is the worst for this. Maybe it's all in my head.
I also installed the Roto Fab CAI at 1500 miles too. I don't think that had anything to do with it tho. I haven't done a fuse pull at all. Thinking of trying that. I don't think I am in the low octane table, but who knows what she had at delivery. It's been all 93 since I've been filling it.
Anyone else feel their car is slower in PTM? Or slower at partial throttle after CAI?

I truly feel that the car is slower with the ptm modes. I've been driving with the traction control off and i swear it's faster, doesn't bog down on launch and even if you have some wheel spin it still is pulling harder than when the ptm cuts power.

As soon as I figured out you could turn the PTM off, it has stayed that way.

I noticed this too, but it maybe calibrated that way to ensure the smoothest power to the ground in those situations.

Hey guys. This Road and Track Feature may or may not explain what you are perceiving but it sure seems to me that while PTM may not feel like it's working to the drivers advantage, you can trust that it is.

I've played a lot with the modes and the best way to describe PTM is to say in PTM mode, the throttle controls speed and in tour/sport/off it controls acceleration. You can try this to see what I mean, if you do 50% throttle in PTM, your speed will flatten out, if you do 50% throttle in normal modes, you continue to accelerate.
I'm just speculating, but I actually think the computer is monitoring how fast you change throttle positions as well and adjusts acceleration between any two speeds depending on how fast you push the pedal, but I'm still playing with that idea. You can see what I mean by 1st slowing pushing the throttle to 50% and seeing the result, and then doing it quickly.
Either way, from a track perspective, this is great because you can control speed better going through corners.

Thanks for the info. I don't feel crazy now. I can definitely see how PTM would be a huge help on a road course. I think around town, it's better left off. I'll keep playing around with it.

Ive run my all time best time in ptm 5 and can do it consistantly. the videos chevy released with al oppenheiser also state that they too set their best times in mode 5 with drag radials. I stay in mode 5 for most of my driving as it is the tightest shock setting and has the least steering assist so you feel everything and the car sticks like glue, doesn't even start to slide until 1.2 g's

I'll try mode 5 next time out. I was sort of afraid to try it on public roads. I had concerns that the system wouldn't intervene until the car was breaking pretty loose. Didn't want a safety issue. Thanks!

That is true the higher the number the more control you have and the less the car helps you. Be careful on the street in the higher modes or off the rearend tends to get a little squirrely, to say the least!

I've wondered about this myself. Also, just to make sure, turning off all the nannies is just holding traction control for 7 secs?

traction control is nice in certain conditions but my car never sees those conditions. I actually miss some of the fun I have had with other cars. My chevelle puts down close to the same power on the best 14" tire you can get which isnt very good and thats fun to drive sideways. drove my friends chevelle with a 572 in it and that was awesome with a cam and some mods to make more power. when you stab that thing you know you got something. Traction control and abs take driver finesse out of the equation
