Kenwood 9990HD / Scosche Installed

Installed my head unit and scosche kit yesterday and I'm loving it. This radio has so many options and the sound and video quality are awesome. Also found a great place to put the xm antenna and the nav antenna. The signal is still almost full with no cutouts in signal and you don't have to have those ugly antennas on your dash. Doing it this way you don't have to lose signal by using the factory fin. Heres some pics.

I like it. How much did it cost you? Did you install it yourself?

Great job.

Yea sure did. Very easy considering everything ties to the scosche harness instead of having to go to the BCM. I got everything except the backup camera which I'm getting from a guy here in the forums, from DoubleDMods. They are a vendor on here. I paid 1650. But there is a 100 mail in rebate right now so that bring it down even cheaper. In comparison a local stereo shop wanted 2200 for the same setup. I put in the Onstar, nav, Ipod cable, XM radio, and the Scosche.

This (touchscreen infotaintment/nav) was the missing piece that GM finally realized it was much needed and it will be an option on 2013 Camaros.

Yea it looks good but I don't wanna have to pay for the navigation from Onstar to use the nav. Maybe that's speculation tho.

Nav in the 2013 will not be from onstar. It will be just like every other manufacturers nav. You pay for it initially as part of the car and i'm sure there will be periodic updates you can choose to buy. Pretty standard in the auto industry.

It will not be a paid service!

I had the same setup professionally installed in my ZL1. I have an issue with the steering wheel controls not working.

The installer contacted Scosche and it appears that the issue has to do with a change in how the steering wheel controls operate on the ZL1. Scosche is working on a new firmware update to address this.

Its not going to be made via firmware update but you have to solder some wires together. PM your email so i can send you the instructions

according to the manual (scosche), most of the systems like jvc, alpine, use the 3.5 pin to plug right into the head unit for steering controls, but on the kenwoods, there i a wire (both on the scosche and kenwood) for the steering control. In between it takes an adapter that is wired in. i installed and my controls work i purchased it from Double D mods.
