Angry Just when I thought I found a good dealership in South Florida....

They damaged my two front rims while replacing the tires and said "Our tire machine is made so it won't do that" and refused to do anything...

Now the scrape is partially on the inside edge near the bead of the tire, don't think I could have done that if I tried.

Ask what type of machines do they have, name and model. How much experiance does the employee operating it have? Thats BS they are not facing up to it if they really did do the damage. Hope you get this resolved quickly.

I've already called the Chevy CS 800 number.

Did not think to ask the model of the machine, but did ask if it was the same tech that changed the front and rear tires, they said it was, and also they mentioned that their machine was "Brand new" and cost "$25k"

Also walked in one of the managers offices and heard the tail end of a conversation on speakerphone where he was told "you need to stick by saying it did not hapen here"

They also washed my Camaro and that was odd since they have been told many many times DO NOT WASH the Camaro.

I would've told the dealer that it doesn't matter how new or expensive their tire mounting machine is if their technician doesn't know how use it properly!

Hopefully this gets resolved to your satisfaction.

There was some rubber on there, and that did come off during the wash, but but it's still a very clean scratch.
No real metal damage, just a clean removal of paint from the rim.

And they where VERY insistant that their machine was not capable of damaging a rim.

Unfortunately, we must ALWAYS point out undamaged wheels (and the rest of the car for that matter) to anyone about to do work on them and carefully check again before leaving.

Wheel damage with low profile, stiff sidewalled tires is rampant.

Every vendor servicing cars is instructed to deny responsibility once you have left the premises. In fact, if you did not make a point of showing them the undamaged wheels to begin with, they will most likely try and say they came in that way. Just the way it is.

Definately tire machine damage.

Even the best tire machines in the world can do that without the right skills, rim protectors....

Find out who said that on the speaker phone, and what he drives. Brick through the side window with a note that says - it didn't happen here.

I certainly apologize for the frustrations that you are experiencing with your rims. If you could please send me you first and last name, address, phone number, VIN, mileage and involved dealership, I will be more than happy to set up a case for you and see if there are any options available to you. I look forward to your reply.

***Also thank you for mentioning me fellow members!

Always, and I mean always do a thorough walk thru with a dealer check in paper signed by both parties with a copy in your hands when you drop off your car for service. There is a reason why most dealers dont do this unless asked for.
