Question GoPro HD

So my dad found the Gopro he bought a couple years ago and generiously gave it to me. Im not an expert on these just yet, but it is the motorsports edition HD. Now when i go to mount and record just as the intructions say to (with the under 100MPH backing plate) The sound of the wind is terrible and can barely hear anything else...So my question is going wrong? Thanks for any feedback

If you use the water-proof back it will reduce the wind noise a little, but you're pretty much just going to have to edit in some music over the recorded audio.

The reason the videos you see online of indy cars or other motorsports vehicles have such awesome audio is because their engines are loud enough and in close enough proximity to the GoPro that the sound overpowers the wind noise. So, if you've got a stock exhaust, or even a moderately aftermarket exhaust, it's not going to be loud enough to overpower the wind noise.

Find you a cool song and do some dubbing

One other alternative is to mount it inside the vehicle. But if you do this, just remember, the audio WILL pick up anything you say, or any music you're listening to

Thanks for the info! I thought the MRT V1's were loud enough, guess not but I'll try the waterproof backing plate, now just to figure out how to edit sound on my MacBook

I have yet to try to do external shots with mine. I tend to drive with my windows down, so I get the engine noise, but a fair amount of wind noise as well at higher speeds.

Example is the video I recorded last weekend:

I fire up the willing engine, responding with a roar. Tires spitting gravel I commit my weekly crime.
