Road course event May 4 2014

NEVERMIND, WE DIDN'T GET ENOUGH INTEREST AND I HAD TO LET THE RESERVATIONS FOR THE TRACK AND INSTRUCTORS GROUP GO - rats!

For those interested in supplementing your Camaro5 Fest V experience with a HPDE at a road course, listen up.

First of all a disclaimer: this event would NOT be a sponsored part of Fest V and it is not meant to pull folks away from Fest V. Due to logistics, the powers that be don't want to have driving events at more than one site during Fest V and the Royal Purple complex is not set up with a road course.

However, there is a dedicated road course facility about 60 miles south of Baytown and just north of Angleton, TX called MotorSport Ranch - Houston. I've researched the possibility of having a one day event there on Sunday, May 4th (the day after Fest V is over). If there are enough folks seriously committed to participating, we could get The Driver's Edge company to coordinate and put on the event, including the instructors for each participating car. Check out their web site at www.thedriversedge.net to see what they do numerous times a year.

The basic info: we need approximately a 100 cars to signup and the one day cost should be about $200 per driver/car. This should include 4 track sessions in the one day event (somewhere around 20-25 minutes a session). It would start about 7 in the AM and last until about 5PM. There would be groupings for beginners up to very experienced drivers.

If you have ever driven your car on a road course, you know what a blast it is to do so. If you haven't done so yet, ask someone who has to see their grin as they tell you about it!

For those who have to ask, I am in no way associated with The Driver's Edge other than being a VERY satisfied repeat participant in their HPDEs.

Let me know through this thread (or PM if you must) if you are seriously interested so the necessary reservations can be made (We would need to know in the next couple of weeks).
Thx and let's see if we can get this going!

I'd be interested. If the price stays close to the 200 quoted. It's kinda on the way home anyway.

Thanks guys. Sounds good - keep the responses coming!

Just a quick comment on the logistics side of this event - please notice on The Driver's Edge website that they were the first 'group' to run the Circuit of the Americas track (January 2013 after the November 2012 F1 race weekend). These guys have a great reputation and know what they need to do to put on a quality HPDE.

What are you going to drive Chase? I thought you said you got rid of your Camaro?

I would be interested as well. Can't commit at the present time since I am not 100% sure if I can make it to fest. I would most likely be a last minute add on if that can be done.

By then I should have a new toy. If not, I can "borrow" Paul's SS.

I'm interested but can't commit yet. I really won't know for sure till a month or so before the fest. It all depends on funds and my schedule!

Interested. This might be the event to entice me to deal with the heat/humidity of Houston in May. Not so much into autocross or drag racing, but love HPDE events.

The heat in May is not that bad...
