Sad day with the first chip in vinyl hood film.
This is something I read about and sat smug in my chair thanking God it wasn't my problem...well now it is. Probably a result of slow ass drivers in the "passing" lane and me in a badass 1LE. Besides a full re-wrap, what do we do to fix this? Pretty sure I know the answer but I'm just going to ask anyway. Grrrrr!!!!!

Yep. Factory wrap is thin. Only option IMO is to re-wrap, pull it off, or I have seen success with small spots using plastidip. DO NOT USE paint...you will be painting the factory paint that's under the wrap. Some seem to think it's not factory paint under there or something.....

Just let it be. The minute you re-wrap it it's going to happen again. Wait until you have a bunch and then get it re-wrapped. Don't sweat the small stuff just enjoy your Camaro!

You could have it rewrapped and then have another layer of a satin clear vinyl on top for added protection or have the hood repainted (with several layers of clear coat) and then add the satin clear vinyl protection for another layer of protection.

Easy Fix! Just find someone with a 2014 1LE and trade hoodswith them....hehe
OR, get 3M Scotch Print wrap material and re do it. The stuff is bulletproof and easy to put on. It has air release channels. The black carbon fiber is sweet too. |

I heard they were using th Avery Dennison materail. I off road in my jeep wrapped in 3M 1080 Scotch Print and it holds up without a scratch.

It would look bad ass with a camo hood wrap like this. I'm a redneck though.

Has anyone plasti dipped the hood? Could still get the matte look, and would be tougher I would think
edit: answered my own question. Looks good I say http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=256706 Edit 2: Whole car matte black plastidip. Hmm, more menacing!! http://www.lsxtv.com/news/a-plastidi...-cool-or-crud/ Last edited by BGowland; 01-05-2014 at 03:40 PM. Reason: Found link |
