I definately will especially were I've always kept an eye on this in the L99. I've always had confidence in them.

What is the difference in materials used between the stocker and the melling?
Are there powder metal gears in the stocker and machined steel gears in the melling?

Anyone look at their old failed pump to see what physically happened?

My understanding is that the Meling uses better quality components, as to the gears specifically I am not sure.

The most common failure is the pressure relif valve hanging up but it is common in the LS3's and relitavely rare in the L99's

Litle88 called melling and actually got a detailed explanation of what makes their OPs better than OEM, and he posted it in another thread. that explanation is what sold me; that and the fact I couldn't Google failure rates. I'm sure he will chime in.

Thanks.

If it was gears phycially breaking my thought was going to be crank harmonics even though an oil pump on the crank snout as a WHOLE would serve to help dampen them. I was thinking the crank gear/pump gear interface was pounding itself out.

Stupid relief valve? LOL what a dumb thing to ruin the whole deal.

Hopefully it doesnt happen to me!

Had a chance to get it in the shop and check it out a bit and am pretty sure it's the stuck valve. Upon starting pressure jumps up but imediately drops, I'm going to pull the pump tomorrow if I can clear up my customer work.

I'm sure it will be ok. I'm lucky it happened right in front of my shop, it's just bad timing with spring finally here, my workload is quite high this time of year.

I am curious to see exactly what the problem is where as it is quite rare in the L99's
