Drilling valve cover for catch can

Do you guys with forced induction drill out the drivers side valve cover for more air. Do you drill the nipple and also the small hole inside the valve cover? Or just the nipple on the outside. Also what size do you drill it? Thanks for any help.

Drill out the hole inside. Or run aftermarket covers, they are cheap, or drill a hole in the top away from nipple, weld an AN bung on. Many ways to do it. Holley valve covers are ~$155 so that is the route I went.

The drivers side valve cover PCV barb should be drilled to 1/8" to 1/4" depending on who's system your installing. Make SURE to not drill all the way through the baffle below it as oil will splash into that hole from the rocker arms.

Also, let us know what system and how your planning on routing all so we can guide you there as well.

I have the catch can routed correct. just doing a cam now and was going to drill the valve covers as long as I have them off now. I drilled the pvc barb. what I was wondering about is the small hole on the baffle. As to weather or not you drill that hole larger? Thanks guys.

Yes, drill that hole in the driver side valve cover baffle to a bigger hole. Drilled mine out but cant remember which size. The bigger you can drill it the better

I dont believe you drill out the baffle. Otherwise you will suck in oil, or oil will splash up. Just had this discussion with my shop and they had their fabricator weld in a patch on the baffle. My baffle did have a hole in it from drilling out the barb. The bit went too deep i guess. Just drill out the barb to 1/4" or larger. That should do it.

Maybe that's the reason every 2500 miles I had a good pint of oil in my RX Monster can.

don't drill the baffle...just the inside of the nipple/fitting. or buy some nice holley covers...that's what I did. bam. solved.

Holley covers are baffled well and have a larger breather opening. Cleans up the coil mounts by eliminating the brackets. Win/win.

My baffle does have a small hole in it from the factory. I will leave it as is.

Correct. The stock baffle has the hole it is supposed to have.

PVC drill

This is a pic of what I have. 2013 v6, is it the one that needs to be drilled or is it the newer size as I bought late in the model year. If I need to drill how do I proceed from the pic? I know it should look straight and metal no 90 degree as in the pic but not sure how to proceed as this is my only car and if I need another part it won't be easy.
