Chevrolet is pleased to announce the current quality assessment on the 2012 Camaro ZL1 has been completed. The 2012 Camaro ZL1 models that were on hold at Oshawa are now available to be shipped to dealers. 2012 Camaro ZL1 production which was suspended is expected to resume by mid-April, 2012.

For those customers with ZL1 orders produced that were on hold, you should expect your order to arrive at dealerships within two to three weeks depending on your Chevrolet dealerships distance from Oshawa Assembly.

For those customers with ZL1 orders that are in the production system (Event 3000 or higher), we are currently working on assigning new estimated production weeks.

For those customers with ZL1 orders that have not been sent to production or are “on hand” (Event 1100), please be aware your Chevrolet dealer will learn of the status of any remaining 2012 Camaro ZL1 allocation and timing for order submission within two weeks.

We understand the excitement level for the new ZL1 is at a fever pitch. We look forward to the initial deliveries in the coming weeks, and the continuing production of the ZL1 in the weeks and months to follow.

# 473… I am looking forward to meeting you in person. I hope you live up to everything that’s been documented to-date about your brothers and sisters. But I think you should know what you are about to get into. I ordered you to fulfill a bucket list dream my father has. He had ordered a blue 69 Z/28 DZ 302 4sp car back in the day before I was born. I remember riding in it with the younger man he sold it to as a toddler so he could buy a house for me to live in. You see he’s the reason Chevrolet runs deep in me. Heck I still think Baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and Chevrolet is one the best marketing slogans we’ve had. I grew up in various GM dealerships and others while he worked as a mechanic or a service manager for the last 38 years. I recall fondly watching the new cars get prepped. Working on my first car, a 1954 Chevrolet 210 sedan at the ripe old age of ten, with this man who can fix ANYTHING! Wondering if there would come a day when I could do something that would show him how much he means to me.


So as he’s nearing retirement, I ask him: “Dad if you retire this next year what’s on your bucket list???” He replies, “Well, I know how much you want one of those ZL1’s, and I would try to convince your mom to let me buy your 2010 2SS/RS Camaro if it wasn’t orange!! I still can’t believe you didn’t get blue!!! Because I’d like to travel the sections of route 66 that are still open in a new Camaro or Corvette.”


Now #473…You were going to be a July 1st surprise. I planned on handing him the keys (after getting you all broke in and passed the 1500 mile mark) and saying, “Here you got the new Camaro, you’ve got no more excuses as you are about to retire. Just take lots of pictures along the way and enjoy it.” But sadly last week he found out that he’s got stage III cancer. Chemo and radiation starts Monday. So when you get here to windy Wichita Kansas you’re going straight to him in Iowa. I expect you to perform when called and even though he can fix ANYTHING you better only pull into a dealership for pictures along the way. Because I believe he’ll beat this and I’m expecting you to plant the Perma-grin Scott keeps talking about and live up to your personalize tag STL2SLO. I hope you are ready #473. Oh, and don’t worry if you get caught in in a sandstorm in AZ…we’ll just get you repainted BLUE J
