I'm not sure how this would fit into the camaro lineup. It is more expensive than a V8, less powerful, and almost certainly heavier. I doubt it even has better real world fuel economy. It fits well for a Cadillac, as buyers of those cars like the idea of a smaller displacement DOHC turbocharged engine, but I just don't see where it fits in for the Camaro. As for the ATS-V, it would be appropriate, but I still would rather have the LT1.

It does look like a well engineered engine, but I would prefer the LT1.

I bet this finds it's way into the rumored Grand National as a base model as well.

Awesome! Just Awesome!

You guys surprised at the power output shouldn't be. That number is playing it pretty dang safe in all honesty, and is capable of much more!

I didn't think GM would have the guts to go over 400 HP and torque on this thing but they did....props to them.

Now we have a big sedan (and with the 8 speeds) and its basically as quick as the Camaro SS.

Can you guys imagine what a powerful engine like this (including V8) and 8 speeds in the next gen...much lighter Camaro will do? Its going to be freaking amazing.

Maybe I missed it, but does anyone have any idea how much this larger CTS on the longer Alpha chasis weighs???

I'm even more interested in what can be accomplished with a tune, those stock numbers are pretty impressive.

I was honestly expecting close to 400 HP or just about. Definitely not 20 HP over.

Welcome surprise. It's going into the XTS as well.

Which makes me bring up an Impala SS once again...

Anyone else like to see a New Monte Carlo based off the new Impala with this Motor in it?

Exactly what I was thinking, can't wait for this car and I hope GM does it right. Think of what a tune would do for this setup

Doubt it. Although people have Photoshopped Impala coupes and they're all stunning.

I'd like to see this thrown into a Camaro. Here's what I want to see:
  • 6.2L SC Camaro ZL1
  • 7.0L Camaro Z28
  • 6.2L Camaro SS—call it SS376
  • 3.6L TT Camaro SS—call it SS220TT or SS220FI or SS220
  • 3.6L Camaro LT
  • 2.0L T Camaro LS

I can dream.

Actually I'd argue base on this engine the LT1 makes more sense from a buisness and performance perspective. If the atsv came with this LF3 it would probably get whiped from the next M3, Merc C class, S4 etc... Which all will probably have more hp, heck the Merc has more power already. Also from what im seeing the LT1 might be more fuel efficient or atleast equal to it, so why not the LT1 again???

Yeah I'm not convinced this LF3 will make it into the ATS-V either.

That said, if GM was willing to give this engine a different tune in the ATS-V its capable of bigger numbers easily. The N/A engine is build fairly strong with some forged internals already. Lots of V6 guys here are running FI applications at 450 and more HP and not one has popped yet.

This version comes with stronger rods and other parts which makes it even more reliable. I say putting it up to 450/450 would be a breeze. I guarantee we will see custom tunes putting it at or near 500+.

Anyways, custom tunes aside, I'm very curious to see where else they may use this engine, as it seems like they won't be using it in the Silverado. Would this make any sense in the new Colorado/Canyon trucks?
