GY F1 tires and track use

Did some track time at Mont-Tremblant circuit. At the end of the day the surface of my tires looked shredded. Other track members commented I was kicking my tire rubber on their cars. Especially at cornering.
Very sticky tires but I found track use very abusive on them.

Any comments from other members on track use and tire wear ? I seem to have somehow melted off a layer of rubber from mine.

The Goodyear's are very sticky tire when hot and will melt during track use. Some folks have only gotten 2-3 track sessions out of them before they are worn out. Friend of mine had a ZL1 and he did 3 track sessions and had to replace them with only 2500 miles on the car.

I was at Mont Tremblant last year for vacation. They had some motorcycle test going on and wouldn't let me on track :(
Sorry about your tires.

Have you ever watched a NASCAR race? Goodyear has perfected the art of making tires for 40 laps. No More, No less.

BAH (boat anchor heavy) + ST(sticky tire) = EW (empty wallet)

this is one of those equations you did as a kid you just didn't know what he variables meant ha ha.

just like

HP = L(lenght)+G(girth)-DL(drivers licence)

A trick the autocross guys use is to get a lawn and garden sprayer and fill it with water. When you come back in from your run spray down the tires with the water to get them to cool down quicker and thus allow them to last longer.

Lol true,... I'd say it helps in autocross way more than it would help in HPDE events but i'd think it would still help some before the next run but I can't say for sure.

Sounds like me, I replaced 1st set @ about 3000 mi with 2 track days, since then I went up on sway bar on the rear, added all the camber the chassis would give, got rid of toe and added a little PSI to keep the sidewalls from rolling. 2nd set is doing much better.
