Who's had the Tremec 6 sp. out?

If you've had the Tremec out did you notice if there's a vent? Opened the fill plug while hot and air pressure came out, most all man. tranny's have vents just wondering if mine is plugged or if there isn't one.

I have to drop my tranny to change my throw out bearing (whenever it gets here!) I'll check for a vent when I do.

Update: The bearing came in today! Finally! I will be doing the install tomorrow (hopefully) and will report back when I am done.

I believe there is a vent on the top/front. Right about where the bellhousing/trans split is. Looks kind of like a valve stem cap sitting on top of the trans.

They are spring loaded though, to keep things sealed almost all the time. Will only blow off pressure if the pressure got way too high. If it was just a little pressure, I wouldn't worry about it. Plus, if the trans really overpressured it would have blown fluid out the rear seal.

In the service manual for leaks - it says check the vent. So if it is not leaking, I wouldn't worry about it. If you can reach up and feel the vent, might be able to lift up on it a bit and feel the spring pressure holding it down.

I had the same thing happen. Also happened when I disconnected a cooler line at another time.

I still find it weird that there was pressure built-up in there I can't remember reading if there was an actual pump in these trannys for the coolers to work, but I guess there would be, no? Maybe that can account for the air pressure in the system

There is a pump, but the transmission shouldn't build up air pressure with a vent. I'm going to see if I can remove the vent without taking the tranny out and see if there is a problem with it.
The service manual states to replace the vent as a toubleshooting task for transmission leakage. I take that as the pressure in the transmission is forcing fluid past the seals.
