Chicago Tuning Shop Quote - Need advice

Okay fellow gearheads and tuning guys. I have never modified a car before and I want you guys to let me know if this quote is priced fairly or not. This was the only local Chicago shop I've found so far. I told the guy i wanted a quote for CAI, headers, exhaust and a tune. He said they didn't have a CAI to sell yet but I could provide them one and they'd install it.

I have a 2SS / RS with the L99 automatic.

Off the top of my head, seems reasonable. Kooks retail on the WHOLE system (headers all the way back) is $2400. You're getting it for about $1900, which is a fair discount. If you search around the internet, I think you could get a slightly better price.

Gasket and plugs looks about right. Labor seems fine; I haven't been under a 5th Gen yet but it would probably take a few hours to bolt off and both everything back on. At $325 total, looks like they are maybe estimating maybe 4-5 hours? Tuning price, I probably wouldn't complain about that. I think you are OK; I definitely do not think you are getting ripped off.

That's who I got the quote from.

Glad to hear you recommend them. Do you work with anyone in particular there? Is there anything I'm missing that I should upgrade?

I could probably put on a CAI myself. Shouldn't I wait to tune it until it's on?

I'm pretty much a novice as well, but I had them do some work on my 04 GTO, Intake and such and they did a good job...I'm also trying to decide which mods to get done to my new L99 2SS/RS...

What color car do you have? We're only about 25 minutes apart. I really would like to mod the car now, but I probably should wait until next spring to save some extra cash. I love the car as it is stock, but it's going to be a beast when I upgrade it.

Victory Red w/ Black Racing Stripes...I need the exhaust louder on mine...People always want to hear it once they see it, and I have to tell them, it's not as loud as my 2005 GTO, which kind of sucks...I'm still getting used to the L99, it drives alot different than the LS2 that was in my 05 GTO...

Tuning price is a little on the higher side but still within reason.

Header gaskets can be reused.

Speed Inc does good work tho
