I really doubt it. The filter with bypass is after the pump. The issue is that when the bypass opens it allows more oil to bypass the filter media, so less oil gets filtered.

When it comes to ordering in bulk orders, does anyone not care about having oil on the shelf for years losing it's protective properties? Or does it not matter if oil sits on the shelf for years

Oil stays good for a long time as long as you don't open them. Maybe some of the additives will start to separate but then some shaking should solve that.

Yep, both are 0W-40, both are ESP Formula and both are Dexos2 approved...

I was able to return the 4 STP filters today and exchange them for AC Delco PF64's

I returned all 4 STP filters, 2 of which were wrong anyways even if they met specs. Got a cool $32 back. I did buy their overpriced ACDELCO PF64s, at least overpriced compared to other places...

Since the Mobil 1 is so hard to come by does anyone else have a different brand that they use regularly in their ZL1?

You have a ZL1, I’d roll with the Mobil1, if you’re in Europe I understand Castrol makes a 0w40 dexos2 version as well.

Check your manual, ZL1 might have decos 5w30 as an alternate, I’m not sure. I don’t own a zl1.

Same here. Fingers crossed that it will do well for track day use just like the old Mobil1 0W-40 ESP since it satisfies the Dexos 2 requirement.

I asked if I could return the two STP filters and buy my preferred (ACDelco PF64) filters instead while I was there picking up the online order and the cashier didn't mind. They were just slightly more expensive.

Thanks zxspeedspec for posting about this...it is the best price per quart that I have seen since I bought the car!
