Camaro Savings
I have already save $1500.00, I will be putting my Camaro fund before my teen age daughters. I hope to have at least $15,000.00 when I am ready to buy.

I guess everyone has different ideas of what savings is. I doubt I will put more then $2,000 down. If the rate of the car loan is 0-6% then I would rather pay that then not have the money in my 7-17% 401K, IRA or my small bond collection.
Look at the interest rates and rebates that GM is giving now and just think in 2010,2011 for some of you that those same rates would apply. House,401K, IRA then bonds. That is the way I save. Jeep is paid for, credit card debit will be gone in the spring and so that leaves me with my mortgage and student loan. |

Between student loans, car payments and insurance, I don't really have too much available to save. I've got an automatic transfer of $150 a month from my checking to money market account, but I'm hoping to increase that to $500 by 2008, or as soon as I get a better job.
I'm planning on having about $5,000 to put down on the car, and am expecting my payments to be 5-700 a month over 72 months. I'm hoping to pay it off early though, if at all possible. I'm not going to let my lack of savings stop me from getting the car I want. I'm not sure if I'll wait for the later release of the "top dog", but I'm at least going to get the best available at release. I'm thinking 35-40,000 with all the options I want. |

I'm about where you're at Pencil but I have a little more saved. I'm hoping the camaro isn't as expensive as that but mine might be since I'm getting a vert.
If the car is around $38k you will be paying like 650-700 a month with only 5k down. I calculated what my g/f would pay if she got her G35 (38,000 with 10,000 down) and her payments would be 570 and change a month. |

According to Capital One's Car Loan Calculator, $35,000 financed at 7.5% APR would be just over $600 a month.
So, if my package ends up being $40,000 I'll finance $35,000 if my package is $35,000 I'll only be financing $30,000 and that'd be $520 a month. Both assuming a 72 month loan term and 7.5% APR. All I need is a job that pays me an extra 6 - 7,500 a year and I'm set. |

$35,000 financed at 6.99% for 72 months is just under $600 a month. I'd like to stay around $550. $30,000 for 60 months is $585 with Capital One. I wouldn't go higher than that myself. My last 2 cars were financed for 72 months and because of that they have been $3000 upside down. I'd LIKE to go no more than 60 on the Camaro if I can manage. But we'll see... Man, I can't wait 'til concrete pricing is announced so we can stop wondering. |

I'll be getting 5.2% unless my credit goes insane either up or down.

Keep it up. Credit will save you a ton of money in the long run too.
