I talked to Maureen at Rodgers Chevy and she said MAJOR BACK ORDER and only way to get them is if you have a damaged one.........Called 2 local dealers and they show back ordered too!

Ok........ They are probably for actual ZL1's who have damaged/bent rims, etc. Not justifying the "backorder," but I understand why they do it.

GM service parts must maintain a certain inventory of parts (which can vary) for warranty repairs. Not sure if this is a regulatory thing or if it's a voluntary thing. If inventory drops below a certain % of the safe margin, holds are placed on retail sales. This can be due to a number of reasons, but mainly it's when demand outstrips supply. It's usually temporary though.

This happens more frequently in just in time (JIT) production which many companies are adopting more and more.

GM would love to sell you those parts in the warehouse. That's $$$ and a good profit margin. But gone are the days where GM buys trainloads of parts and puts them in warehouses where they sit for years. Inventory costs money, and reducing such is a cost-cutting staple for lots of businesses.

I just wish GM would let these rims sell. I have wanted these rims even before getting my car. Unfortunately, due to the low number of ZL1s available, i had to take my car with those ugly 5 spokes! i wonder when/if they will ever be off of backorder???

I have had three black wheels come in and the problem is with the paint! All three have silver showing through because paint is too thin!

I see the same thing on mine. Brought it to the dealer, going to need to bring it up again. I have been waiting to see a set of new ones in the area to compare mine too.
