That's why I bought a V6 as well. Sadly, mine gets about the same fuel mileage as my SS did. Epic Fail.

Once I knew I wasn't gonna get 30mpg, I just stopped caring. That was the ego number for me. I avg about 19 as a DD. Still better than the 16mpg on my previous vehicle - SUV.

Also, are you people actually calc'ing MPGs by hand, or are you going by what the DIC says? You can't always trust the DIC. Quote:
Not saying the V6 is a bad car or anything, but anyone who downplays the differences between it and and SS is just kidding themselves.

Seems I recall data from this site that for the first year of production 2/3 of sales were SS. The Camaro was viewed a success by GM because of the SS higher profit margin. The increased sales for the V6 came afterwards likely because all the enthusiasts ran out and bought an SS in the first year, including myself. All this proves is that you can use statistics to prove-or disprove, anything you want.

I think the real reason why GM made the V6 is so they can make a butt load of money when buyer's remorse kicks in. How many of us on here started with the V6, then traded in for a V8 shortly after. Now, GM has sold us two Camaros. Pretty genius on their part

anyways. A guy posts a picture of great gas mileage and says this was his reason for buying the V6. Then some take it as an attack on the SS and belittle the the OP to make themselves feel better. What gives guys?? I have gotten a bit over the advertised 29 mpg highway on some trips before, and so have many other V6 owners. Don't act like this is some kind of fake picture. I average over 22MPG, and thats with the "fun" driving mixed in. Sad how quickly any thread concerning a V6 quickly breaks down into a "Vs." war. Why can't you guys just let it go?

This thread is now completely off topic.
Just a quick recap for those that are just now tuning in... V8 owners would like everyone to know that they are indeed superior beings because they spent more money on their cars than V6 owners. Their cars have 100+ more HP than V6 which means they are better/faster/stronger than all others beneath them. They don't care about gas mileage or any added costs in owning their cars. In a V8 owners mind, there is NO justification for not owning a V8. V6 owners would like everyone to know that their cars MOST of the time get great gas mileage & make great daily drivers. However, some seem to be in denial that their cars aren't as "fast or powerful" as a V8, therefore they sometimes use the gas mileage as justification for choosing it over a V8 & claim there isn't much difference between the two cars other than a little extra HP. This causes an outrage in the V8 community & leads to a never ending thread, such as this one, where everyone whines & complains about who's better & why. |

Why don't the mods throw out the v8 tards from this thread. Every god dam thread in this place about v6 which IS a Camaro gets ruined by these tools and the mods do nothing about it.
Perhaps it is time for V6 to get its own forum. I mean 1le which has far less sales and has it's own place. If the car is such a different animal as these tools claim then gives the V6 its own home. I think the forums are broke up wrong now that I really look. It should be 5th gen SS 1LE ZL1 Z28 Forum and 5th gen LS LT Forum. At least this makes sense.
