I made an uh-oh today...

So I was cleaning my car, I had the wipers up for cleaning the window. And totally forgot about them........ I opened the hood it wouldn't go up so I kind of pushed it up just a tiny bit... and I noticed the wipers were scraping against the edge of the hood.... :/ Touch up paint covered it up, but still. Felt terrible and mad lol. Stupid mistake.

Man that stinks, thanks for sharing though. Hopefully I'll think of this story before I open my hood to clean it and make sure their down.

I'm really good at installing vinyl and what not, pretty similar to tint/screen protectors and stickers haha. I'm most likely going to put a thin strip of vinyl on both spots just in case it happens again....

Definitely not the only person to do this.

I did exactly the same thing on my 2011. Scrapped off a 4" section of paint on the back edge of the hood on the passenger side. As if that wasn't enough, on the drivers side it chipped off a chunk of paint about the size of a penny at the curve of the hood cowl. What really pissed me off was neither wiper blade looked like anything happened. The hood took the entire brunt of my bonehead mistake. I tried using touch up paint and some wet sanding to fix it but wasn't satisfied with the way the repair turned out. Ended up biting the bullet and had the hood repainted. It was an expensive mistake you can bet I will never make again.

You think doing it once would be enough to keep it from happening again. Unfortunately, that was not the case for me. I did it a second time about a month ago. Talk about feeling stupid!

Yep, I am guilty of doing this too, but I didn't have any damage done to the paint.

I'll be installing a thin 2" section of carbon fiber vinyl over where the paint is scratched off, I can't see it only if I look in the right spot, anyways with me doing this it will totally take a little absorbing of the impact if I do it again lol.

I've almost done that once or twice. Glad you were able to minimize the damage.

Bummer.. Sucks that it happened, but at least you got it covered up. Now I know to be careful after reading these comments!
