Popping/thump from the trunk area?

2012 1LT V6 Camaro - 540 miles on the clock.

I've noticed every morning, about a 1/4 mile from my house I pull up to a stop sign at the main highway. Slight uphill incline but the roadway itself is good. No potholes or uneven lanes. It seems every morning when I get to this spot if my radio is down I hear 'pop.....pop....pop....pop pop pop pop pop' and then I pull out onto the road and I never hear it again until the next morning at the same intersection. So weird. It sounds like its coming from the rear/trunk area? It's kinda like a pop/thump sound. Who knows, it may do it other times during my drive but I've only ever heard it at this stop sign. It does a few pops with nearly equal time between all of them, then several fast ones, and that's it! Nothing. Maybe this section of the road is haunted? Is there something going on in the back of my car?

Hell with it, maybe I just need to listen to the radio louder!

Do you hear this as you are turning a corner onto the road from a stop or going straight?

Sitting at a dead stop pointing straight. The second day it started making the noise I let off the brakes and hopped back on them real quick to see if that made a difference but it went on just like it always does.

It doesn't....bother me....exactly....but I'm awfully curious about it.

Sure as I'm typing here now I bet it will do it in the morning again! I'll try more random things, lol.

It sounds like someone is tapping their finger on the trunk lid, correct? About 5 times? I believe it is a pressure release valve on the gas tank. It is part of the EVAP emission system on the car. This is normal. My car does it. There are threads on this site talking about it too.

Could it be the mechanic still in the trunk from the last time he left greasy finger prints in your door handle?
Sorry had to ask.

It's def that evap solenoid apparently. It's VERY consistent in its timing. I sat in the driveway longer than usual this morning because I was reading this thread on my cell phone waiting for the car to warm up and it did the whole 'tap-pop-whatever the hell' orchestra while driving down my street when it usually does it right around the corner sitting at the stop light.

No worries.

Thanks!

Funny, I noticed mine doing this yesterday. Never heard it before. Loud little bugger.

I hear about this all the time from many new owners. Many in the Camaro club have started to call it "The trunk monkey" And it has been knocking since the original 2010's came out on both the automatic and the manual V8s - just ignore it or turn up the radio....

I hear a slight bang from my trunk every so often. It's typically at very low speed and happens only once every few weeks. I've heard it since the first week I bought my car.
