Got a scratch on SIM! What to do?

Like an idiot, I was backing up in my own shared driveway today, and didn't see another car which was parked in a bad spot where it shouldn't have been...and backed right into it.

I'll post picture later, but I have missing paint about 1/16" thick at the most and around 3" wide - right at the top of the bumper below the taillights at the point where the bumper returns in. Right on that edge.

Should I try touch up paint or just take it to a professional? About how much would that cost to repair if there are any auto body people here? The scratch took off all the paint to the black bumper.

I can't believe it only took 2 weeks for something to happen - luckily it's super minor but I'm still pissed at myself since I've been being extremely careful with it - I guess no careful enough though.

Wow, That really sucks.

I think you need to post a couple of photos so people can give you some advice. Sorry man, I know how bad you must feel.

Man that sucks. Sorry.

I would take it to a pro if you are not 100 percent how to fix it. Besides driving, washing and polishing my car, I leave the rest to the pros.

Yeah it does suck...I'll take a picture tomorrow when it's bright out. I just went and looked at it again, and it's really not that bad...after doing some online research it looks like I might be able to get it repaired quickly and for under $300...that's a hunk of change, but not bad if it makes the car look pretty again.

The bumper isn't damaged at all...it's just that scratch. I'll probably take it to the Chevy dealer bodyshop this weekend to have them look at it.

That does suck but I don't think it will cost no more $100.00 to fix if it is a small area!

Thanks...yeah it's very small like I described...it just peeled the paint right off. The bumper is still appears good, doesn't even look scratched.

Gotta be more careful...I left a note on the car not to park in that spot anymore, too.

I got some very small indents, which are hardly noticeable, but of course I noticed, lol. My dad said it was from tree sap. I think with this car, I would go back to the dealer since they are GM certified and the Camaro is a brand new car. You may pay a little more but at least it gets done the right way.

Judging by the width and depth you described, touch up paint will not suffice. It will have to be sanded, primed and re-sprayed to look new again...sorry 'bout your luck.

I was thinking that would be the case. Have any idea how much something like this should cost...it's probably something they can do in a day I would think, right?

I'll definitely pay more to have a the dealer take care of this, and have it done right though!

I had something similar happen to mine once. Cost $350 and took 2 days to do it (dropped it off in the morning and it was ready the next day after supper).

Well i dont think dearships will paint just a small area, dont they normally sand the entire area on in this case the entire bumper and then paint it to ensure it matches?
