newb Q: What would I use the USB slot for?
I'm fairly low tech compared to most, all I really need is the ipod jack. What use is the USB to me?

The USB is the 'iPod jack'. You plug your iPod into it using the normal iPod sync cable and it connections digitally and you can control it from the head unit and it keeps your iPod charged.
