January pricing....

[QUOTE=CamaroScotty;138010]Here's what I know:

Ordering starts October 13th.

Allocation will be known on October 13th as well. Dealers will be getting ordering guides to assist in the process...

Prices will be made available after January 1, 2009. (I won't get into the guessing games.....)

This is NOT speculation.

This IS however, (per GM's law) *subject to change

Thanks for YOUR support! Thanks for sharin' the CAMARO LOVE!

Just for reference, I wasn't guessing on the price release.

The October 10th IDL will cover ordering and allocation.

Don't believe the posts that dealers will only get 5 to order....that's just plain bad guessing. Dealers will get months worth of allocation, but we won't know the exact number until Oct 13th.

The other MYTH being spread here is pricing WILL be available that day, that they wouldn't do it without pricing. Again, based on wishful speculation.

To take 20 or more deposits isn't wise for a dealership. It leads to disappointment. You may have a deposit, but be sure you're low on the list if you do. We'll wait to see the allocation, before we accept deposits. That's how we stay fair, flexible, and keep the process FUN! No we're not the biggest, but we always try to be the BEST!

Scotty...

I am second on the list of what is probably a small dealership. They aren't asking for $$$ now, only $500.00 at the time I order. My question is...would even a small dealership get an allotment of at least 2??

Or is it possible that a dealer may only be allotted one if they are small??

I would also love to know this, I talked to a small dealership who said they will be selling AT MSRP but wasn't sure how many they would get and when they would get them.

If they are getting up to six months worth of allocation, I would hope so. But since they officially haven't mentioned how it WILL BE allocated, we don't know. That SHOULD be covered in the Oct 10th IDL.

It's been said quite a few times that if you can't afford the car or options you chose when pricing is released you can change or cancel your order.

This will be unnecessarily explaining the obvious to a lot of you, but some people may need the explanation. "Get months worth of allocation" means that dealers will be advised on October 13th of how many Camaro orders their dealership can submit month by month for the first few months of Camaro production. A given dealer may be informed that his allocation for February is 5, his allocation for March is 6, etc. If you had pre-ordered your Camaro with this dealership and were 14th on their list, the dealership would have to wait until April before they could actually place your car on order with GM. And only after the order is placed with GM would the normal wait for processing and production begin, which usually results in a few more weeks before the car is delivered to the dealer.

well I would like to see the base v8 camaro SS at least 30,000 and SS/RS 32,000. I really wont be paying more than that, Thus I need to know the price first before making any decisions, I mean really how can you buy something without knowing how much it cost? unless you have plenty of money and price is not an issue.

In confirmation of the facts, I will post the following.

There will be allocation based upon 2002 Camaro sales and allocation.

GM intends to produce between 80-100 thousand Camaros per year.

Approximately 30% of Camaros will be V8s, but this number is not set in stone.

Your dealer is wrong, unless your dealer is CamaroScotty or KarlChev.

I think that covers all of the bases.
